Shimano Biomaster C5000(C means Compact Size Body) Power Jigging reel are made of aircraft aluminium(IICold-Forged Aluminium), titanium coated spool ring, pure carbon drag washer, anti rust bearings,  Super SHIP 3D master gear, direct oil-lubrication port and i really love its design. The Biomaster series is build over the same concept as Shimano’s Stella series with AR-C Spool Super Stopper. This reel is specially for the Japan domestic market which has a legendary reputation for being extremely high in quality.

This Made in Japan reel is no exception. Extremely fine in action so typical of Japanese reels. Extremely smooth in winding. It has all the high end features at a medium price range. Thin profile body made from Shimano Hybrid aluminium , “fluid-drive” floating shaft design, titanium lipped spool, “power roller”. All model sizes feature 5 ball and 1 roller bearing. It is everything a spinning reel should be. Sleek and classy reel with a nice dark tone. A reel that outperforms its price range.

The Shimano Stradic CI4 Reel is made of a carbon fiber thats over 1-1/2 times stronger than normal XT-7 graphite and is over 20% lighter. Because it doesnt contain metal, its impervious to rust. CI4 stands for ‘Carbon Interfusion’ with the 4 referring to the number of electrons in the Carbon atom. The Stradic CI4F makes use of a new carbon fiber material on both the frame and sideplate and the internals feature all the latest Shimano designs including Paladin gear durability enhancement. The reel also makes use to the complete spectrum of features within the company’s propulsion line management system as well as the Aerowrap II Oscillation. The Stradic now features a waterproof drag and there are a number of features designed to make maintenance both quicker and easier including the maintenance port and a repairable clicker.

So, as a result of its strength and weight, we can create an extremely lightweight reel with very precise tolerances.  CI4was originally developed for the brake calipers on Shimano’s top end “Dura-Ace” road groupo as well as the front chainring of their XTR premium mountain bike groupo. These were the very components chosen for use by Lance Armstrong during his seven year dominance over Le Tour de France!

As far as I can tell they are trying to compete with Daiwa’s own “Zaion” body, by producing there own new body material named C-14. C-14 is a new carbon material that Shimano claims to have the strength of metal bodied reels while retaining the lightness of carbon. Flex is also eliminated in the C-14 body, which is a common downfall in carbon/graphite reels.
