Daiwa Saltist Hyperjig Fishing Rod
Thanks to TCE Sport for letting me and my fishing kakis to test the new Daiwa jigging rod, Daiwa Saltist Hyperjig series at Bintulu(20/3/2010). This jigging rod has good lifting power with good backbone support. It’s light and has good parabolic action. Daiwa Saltist Hyperjig series comes in 3 categories, PE1-3, PE3-6 and PE4-8. This rod has the ability to moves jigs effectively in high speed hence allowing me to jig horizontally using the Japanese style jigging method. We managed to land lots of good size coral fishes like groupers, snappers, sweetlips etc. We also managed to land a few tenggiri ranging from 6-8kgs with this rod.
As with any type of fishing, there is never one rod that will suit all occasions. The PE1-3 Daiwa Saltist Hyperjig suits best with metal jigs ranging from 60grams to 150grams while the PE3-6 best for jigs that weight more than 150grams and the PE4-6 is best for heavier jigs.
I shall conclude that Daiwa Saltist Hyperjig is a good jigging rod. I like the PE1-3 rating best as i seldom uses jigs that is heavier than 150grams. I was able to move my jig effectively underwater with this rod to land some of the finest fish from Bintulu, Sarawak.
