Coincidence / connection ?

i refer to your article with the heading Did giant arapaima cause duo to drown?

another article in my effort to link the jigsaw puzzle is Three friends drown in lake

i am now wondering myself if there is as connection or is it pure coincidence.
my reason for saying so is :
1) an eyewitness to the drowning of the three children at the lake, who is a regular angler there, said he had earlier admonished them about swimming in the lake, which they disregarded. during the drowning, he saw an indian gentleman trying to help one of the children, which ended in futility. the angler told me that he saw a ‘whirlpool’ near the site of the incident, which he put down as an “evil entity”. i myself fish at the lake frequently and have fished ther for more than five years and all those years have never encountered a ‘whirlpool’ of any sort.

2) it is known to many of the regular anglers at that particular lake, that arapaimas inhabit that lake. the arapaimas were released by their previous owner, most probably due to the inability of the owners to maintain the arapaimas due to size or financial (feeding) constraints. another possible reason is the believe in good luck in releasing animals. the arapaima is locally also called “kui loong” in chinese and represents the ‘feng shui fish’. it is not a native fish and comes from brazil.

3) i attach herewith my reasoning for associating items 1 and 2. i caught this arapaima on the 27th. june 2008, with a rod and line, in the same lake where the three children drowned. it was approximately six feet long and weighed about one hundred kilos plus. it took six adults to drag, as lifting was impossible, and heave it into my car. it is rumoured that there are another two arapaimas, mesuring eight and ten feet each.
